About Us

Quatermass Motorsport is the team created in 2011 by Max Spooner, an inspirational story of a young man's vision of turning a virtual hobby of simulator racing into reality. Under the ownership of Max Spooner who was 17 at the time and is diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, formed the team and self-funded with his own personal savings.

After visiting the Autosport Exhibition in January 2011, Max decided that the Locost Championship which is a series run by the 750 Motor Club would be a good starting point to his motorsport career. Within 3 months of making the decision, Max had bought, built, and branded his car and Quatermass Motorsport made its debut in the 750 Motor Club Locost Championship at Brands Hatch.

In 2017 Max made the decision to expand Quatermass Motorsport into the professional world of sim racing esports. This started with competing in the British Virtual Touring Car Championship right up until 2019 when Max joined the esports team of British GT contender Team BRIT. Max raced with the eTeamBRIT where he also took up the reins of team manager and started to build up a team of all disabled drivers competing against some of the biggest names in real world motorsport and esport competitions. The highlight being that Formula One World Champion Jenson Button joined the team in their self-run GT Challenge competition on rFactor 2.

In February 2022 the team separated from Team BRIT to continue its work as a totally independent operation free to make its own choices and in doing so revived the Quatermass name.  It was also at this point Mike Tyler committed his future to the team.

In 2024 the team welcomed University of Wales Trinity St David as a technical partner. This gave the team vital resource to help push the team forward and to see success including winning the Radical eSports Cup and the iRacing Indy 500 special event. It was also the year we launched the Para Racers Academy.

Quatermass Motorsport is a team which does not lack ambition and wants to be competing in some of the biggest esport competitions in the world including the Le Mans Virtual Series, VCO Championships, rFactor Pro Championships, FIA Motorsport Games and SRO World GT events.
